Rory McIlroy started as one of the favorites in the first two tournaments of these FedEx Cup playoffs, only to miss the cut at the FedEx St Jude Championship, although he managed to get back on track in the BMW Championship finishing tied for eighth place. However, all this makes him start this tournament with a score of 4 under par, being well below the leader.
Beyond that, McIlroy knows what it’s like to be in this position in the past, and his 2019 PGA Tour Championship win saw him come from behind after starting from a disadvantage, so not taking the Northern Irishman into account would be a mistake, considering that he will be motivated as he will be looking to equal Tiger Woods as the tournament’s top winner (three titles).

The Spaniard was a finalist in the previous edition of this PGA Tour Championship, and will be looking to take first place this time. However, this will be very complicated considering that Rahm will start with a score of 3 under par, and will have a very heavy slab to lift.
Regardless, the talented golfer may be ready for this after rebounding from a dismal start in the BMW Championship during the final days of the tournament to finish tied for eighth place, and will require an equally impressive performance over the next few days if he is to retain the title.
