The 2022 US Open is a hard court tennis tournament. Since 1987, the US Open has been the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year.
The other three, in chronological order, are the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon. The US Open begins on the final Monday of August and lasts two weeks, with the middle weekend coinciding with the Labor Day holiday in the United States.
The tournament is one of the oldest tennis championships in the world, originally known as the U.S. National Championship, for which men’s singles and men’s doubles were first played in August 1881. This year will mark the 142nd edition of the tournament.

Favorites
Daniil Medvedev (Odds +210)
In second place we have the defending champion and world No. 1, Russian Daniil Medvedev. This player was runner-up in the Australian Open after being beaten by Rafael Nadal, the same position he reached in Rosmalen and Halle. He was unlucky in the third Grand Slam of the year, as according to Wimbledon’s rules, no Russians or Belarusians were allowed due to the conflict in Ukraine. Most recently, he won the Los Cabos tournament and was a semifinalist in Cincinnati.
Rafael Nadal (Odds +360)
Rafa Nadal is coming off a major injury to his abdomen that prevented him from winning the title again at the All Lawn English Tennis Club. So far, he is the best performing tennis player of the season. He has won 4 tournaments, including two of the three Grand Slams played so far. He will surely reach the final rounds of the US Open with the dream of winning it again.
Carlos Alcaraz (Odds +500)
Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal from the 2022 US Open places Alcaraz among the favorites to win the Grand Slam.
The Spaniard is tied with Rafa Nadal for the number of tournaments won this year. However, his second half of the year was not as strong as the first half. He recently finished runner-up in both Hamburg and Umag. In Cincinnati he reached the quarterfinals.
Sleeper Picks
Nick Kyrgios (Odds +600)
The last Wimbledon finalist is our first sleeper pick. This year, Nick Kyrgios‘ career changed completely, as he has focused much more on the quality of his game than on partying and social life. Of course, this is evident in the fact that he has earned the best results of his tennis career. In doubles, he won the Australian Open, Atlanta and Washington. He also won Washington in singles. He is one of the tennis players who have developed the best this year.
Stefanos Tsitsipas (Odds +1000)
Our second sleeper pick is the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. This has been a good season for the tennis player, as he won the ATP Masters 1000 Monte Carlo, was a finalist in Rome and now in Cincinnati. With these favorable results, he’s most likely preparing to reach the final rounds of the US Open.
Dark Horse
Jannik Sinner (Quota +1400)
Finally, Jannik Sinner is our dark horse. This tennis player has reached almost every major tournament up to the quarterfinal round. His only title this year was in Umag, where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz. Despite not being the strongest player on Tour, he has the ability to unsettle his opponent and could make it to the final.

Favorites
Iga Swiatek (Odds +450)
Now, regarding the women, the favorite for the 2022 US Open is Iga Swiatek. This Polish tennis player conquered the tennis world in 2022. This year, she won Qatar, did the sunshine double (Indian Wells and Miami), Suttgart, Rome and Roland Garros. After losing at Wimbledon against Alizé Cornet, her performance has diminished, but she is still the favorite for the tournament.
Simona Halep (Odds +700)
In second place, we have Simona Halep. Her most important result this season was winning the WTA 1000 in Toronto on August 14. As this is one of the tournaments leading up to the US Open, everyone expects a spectacular performance from Simona Halep.
Emma Raducanu (Odds +1400)
The third favorite is defending champion Emma Raducanu. The Canadian tennis player hasn’t had many outstanding results this season. In just two tournaments (Stuttgart and Washington) she has made it to the quarterfinals and never made it past there. Accordingly, her abilities to defend her title are doubtful, but betting odds put her among the favorites.
Sleeper Picks
Naomi Osaka (Odds +1400)
Japanese Naomi Osaka is our first sleeper choice. This tennis player was a finalist at the WTA 1000 in Miami and that has been her highest result. Regardless, she has already won in New York, and her game is easily adaptable to make her opponents uncomfortable.
Coco Gauff (Odds +1400)
Unlike Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff has had a year of exponential growth that brought her doubles victories in Doha and Toronto, in addition to two finalist positions in singles and doubles at Roland Garros. She will be at home for the US Open and has every chance of beating her strongest opponents.
Dark Horse
Elena Rybakina (Odds +1400)
Finally, the dark horse is the recent Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. This tennis player was a real surprise at the British Grand Slam and since then her highest result has been in the Cincinnati quarterfinals. However, we should not doubt her ability to surprise and win over all those who stand in her way.
JefeBet Prediction
Nick Kyrgios is our ATP prediction for the 2022 US Open, while Coco Gauff is our WTA prediction. These two are young tennis players who are experiencing a period of growth in their careers that has given them the ability and confidence to compete in the latter stages of Grand Slam tournaments.
They’ve lacked very little thus far in order to be crowned, and that little may have been experience (which they already got in the finals they played). For this reason, they are our favorites to win the US Open.
