On Saturday, October 8 from 9:30 am to 4 pm the Heard Museum will host an Indigenous Peoples Day celebration to honor indigenous art and culture. This visit will provide an opportunity to recognize American Indian artists, musicians and writers and engage with the community.
Events will include food trucks, live performances by the percussion group Thunder Boys, storytellers, planting of plants and fanzine exhibitions with two artists. This outdoor event is free and open to the public.
8th Arizona Indigenous Peoples Day
Arizona Indigenous Peoples Day is a highly anticipated event organized by members of the community. This year the organizers will hold three days of events for this important date in which, among others, there will be a spiritual race with prayers and a meeting to reflect and recognize the importance of indigenous culture and groups in the United States.

PowWow and Gourd Dance of the Phoenix Indian Center

Indigenous People’s Day Fest

It will feature a vendor marketplace, food trucks, skateboard demonstrations and competitions, a community zone, indigenous film screenings with Indie Film Fest and musical guests on the main stage. It will be held on October 10 at First Street and Garfield.
Cleaning of the Salado River
Finally, in conjunction with the group IPDAZ, Keep Nature Wild will be holding a walk-a-thon to clean up the Salt River in Phoenix. This cleaning will take place from 7:30 am to 11 am and is free of charge. However, it does require pre-registration and that attendees wear comfortable clothing that can get wet and dirty.
