After a lousy outing by Max Fried in Game 1, the Braves badly needed their starting rotation to react, and Kyle Wright delivered. The co-leader in wins in the National League shut down the bats of a Philadelphia team that had been on fire since the series against the Cardinals, and after scoring seven runs in the first game was blanked in Week 2.
Wright worked for six episodes in which he gave up just two hits, with one walk and six strikeouts, and was successfully relieved by a bullpen that in three episodes allowed one hit and struck out two batters.
On the offensive side, the production was not much, but it came at the right time. Three of the Braves’ four hits came with men in scoring position, which were enough to back up the pitching.
The starter for this game will finally be right-hander Spencer Strider, who recovered in time from some discomfort in his left oblique muscle. The Nationals Rookie of the Year candidate did not allow more than two runs in his last seven regular round starts and the Phillies must not be happy to see him as he posted a 4-0 record and 1.27 ERA while allowing just three runs and striking out 34 in 21.1 innings this year.

It could be said that the Phillies did their homework in Atlanta after getting at least one win that gives them a chance to look to qualify in front of their home fans.
After a slug fest in the first game of the series in which they connected for 12 hits, in Week 2 Philadelphia could not decipher the pitching of starter Kyle Wright who combined with the bullpen to put the Phillies away.
This lack of production resulted in a good start by Zack Wheeler, who in six episodes gave up six hits, allowed three clean runs, and struck out five.
For the third game of the series, manager Rob Thomson will send Aaron Nola, one of his best arms in the regular round, to the mound. The right-hander comes from an impeccable performance against the Cardinals in the Wild Card series, pitching 6.2 shutout innings.In the regular round against the Braves, he posted a 3-2 record and a 3.67 ERA by allowing 14 runs, five home runs and 41 strikeouts in 34.1 innings worked.
