France Preview : 3 points – 1st place
France made a successful start to their title defense with a convincing and straightforward victory over an Australian team that tried to be the surprise of the first matchday from the start of the match.
A goal by Craig Goodwin in the 9th minute set off alarm bells in a French team that had already seen Saudi Arabia beat Argentina. However, the Europeans did not want to go through the same situation and turned the score around in five minutes.
Adrien Rabiot equalized in the 27th minute of the first half and in the 32nd minute Olivier Giroud scored the first of his two goals in the match. The other goal was scored by Kylian Mbappé. Didier Deschamps’ side displayed a show of good soccer with 62% ball possession and 22 shots, seven of which were on target.
A good sign to ease offensive doubts after injuries to Karim Benzema and Christopher Nkunku, who is joined by Lucas Hernandez, who will miss the rest of the competition after suffering a hamstring tear against Australia.
Probable lineup (4-2-3-1): Hugo Lloris, Benjamin Pavard, Ibrahima Konaté, Dayot Upamecano, Theo Hernandez, Aurelien Tchouameni, Adrien Rabiot, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembele, Olivier Giroud.
Denmark Preview : 1 point – 2nd place
The Danish national team will not be able to give away any points against a tough France team after failing to get a better result against Tunisia. The Danes came into the competition as favorites to advance to the next round along with the French, but the draw in the first matchday could complicate things for a team that qualified in Europe with nine wins and one loss in their group.
Despite having control of the ball throughout the match, Kasper Hjulmand’s men were unable to break through the defensive barrier imposed by their African opponents, shooting on 11 occasions, but only four of them on target.
The problem for Denmark is that while a draw will be enough for them ahead of their final group game against Australia, France knows that a win will guarantee them a place in the next round. We will see if Hjulmand makes adjustments to an attack that was not at all reliable, but which had already been successful against the powerful French defense in the Nations League.
Probable lineup (3-5-2): Kasper Schmeichel, Joachim Andersen, Andreas Christensen, Simon Kjaer, Joakim Maehle, Christian Eriksen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Thomas Delaney, Rasmus Kristensen, Andreas Skov Olsen, Martin Braithwaite.
JefeBet Prediction
Of course, the World Cup is not the same as playing in the Nations League, but these teams shared a group in that competition and Denmark came out on top in both games. The French have seven wins in 11 matches against the Danes, but as mentioned above, the Danes have won the last two with scores of 2-0 and 1-2.
It is true that Denmark did not look reliable against Tunisia, and everything points to the fact that against France it would be more complex. But Hjulmand and his boys know how to play the world champions and will give them nothing away in a crucial match for both countries.
Prediction: France to win (FRA 2 – DIN 1).
