Betting on the Tennessee Volunteers

  • Regular Season Record: 19-4

Tennessee is running second in the SEC with an 8-2 conference record, as it is now 8-2 in league play following a 46-43 victory at home over the Auburn Tigers last Saturday. Prior to that, the Volunteers lost to the Florida Gators on the road on Feb. 1 to the tune of a 67-54 score.

The Volunteers have also won five of their last six games. It should be noted as well that Tennessee has already defeated Vanderbilt this season, with the Volunteers scoring a 77-68 victory the last time these two teams met on Jan. 10. Vanderbilt’s faulty defense was taken advantage of by Tennessee, which shot 48.3 percent from the field and went 14/15 from the free throw line. Speaking of defense, the Vols are arguably the best in that area in Division I basketball.

Tennessee, which is allowing only 54.6 points per game, is 6-4 ATS in its last 10 outings.

Betting on the Vanderbilt Commodores

  • Regular Season Record: 11-12

Vanderbilt finally got back in the win column again after a 74-71 victory at home last Saturday against the Ole Miss Rebels. The Commodores were on a three-game losing skid when they entered that game and emerged out of it with a 4-6 conference record. Vanderbilt big man Liam Robbins dropped 19 points with 12 rebounds and seven blocks in the win against Ole Miss.

The 7-footer could be the biggest problem for Tennessee. Robbins had 18 points, seven boards, and three blocks off the bench in the first meeting with the Volunteers for Vanderbilt, which did not have a single starter in that game score more than five points. The Over is 4-2 in Vanderbilt’s last six home games.

JefeBet Prediction

Tennessee is just 4-2 SU on the road, but Vanderbilt isn’t a great team at home (not a great team overall, in fact). Moreover, the Commodores are just 1-4 SU against top 25 teams. Taking the Vols to win comfortably in this matchup.

Prediction: Tennessee spread.
