Betting on the UNLV Rebels
- Regular Season Record: 16-8
After getting stopped in its tracks by the Fresno State Bulldogs last Feb. 8, the Rebels got back in the win column by picking apart the Wyoming Cowboys on the road last Wednesday, 69-59. That brings UNLV’s conference record to 5-7. And while they remain a middling team in the MWC standings, the Rebels can boast of being 2-0 this season versus ranked AP Poll teams.
They are 2-0 straight up versus Top 25 programs to date, having defeated the then-No. 21 Dayton Flyers in November (60-52) and the then-No. 21 New Mexico Lobos last January (84-77). UNLV lost to the Aztecs at home last month, 76-67, but Luis Rodriguez shined for the Rebels with 24 points. EJ Harkless, who leads the Rebels this season in scoring, had 18 points in that game and is coming off a 33-point explosion versus the Cowboys.
UNLV is 4-1 ATS in its last five games.
Betting on the San Diego State Aztecs
- Regular Season Record: 19-5
San Diego State fell prey to the Nevada Wolf Pack late last January but has won its next two games since. The Aztecs beat the Boise State Broncos on Feb. 3, 72-52, at home, before taking down the Utah State Aggies on the road last Wednesday, 63-61. San Diego State didn’t shoot very well versus the Aggies, as the Aztecs connected on only 39.7 percent of their shots and also lost the second-half scoring battle by 14 points, but managed to hold on to score a victory.
That’s a game that must have served as a wake-up call for the Aztecs who are still an intimidating bunch to face, especially when they’re playing at home. The Aztecs are 12-1 straight up this season at Viejas Arena and No. 1 in the MWC with a 112.2 adjusted offensive efficiency.
San Diego State is 6-1ATS in its last seven games.
JefeBet Prediction
San Diego State’s offense struggled in its last game, but a return to form is in order for the Aztecs this Saturday. The Aztecs hit 11 threes on 21 attempts versus UNLV last December and shot close to 45% from the field in that game.
Prediction: San Diego State spread.
