Betting on the Purdue Boilermakers
- Regular Season Record: 23-3
Purdue is arguably the best team in the nation right now. It is ranked No. 1 by the Associated Press, so at the very least, the Boilermakers are AMONG the group of elites in college basketball this season. That being said, the Boilermakers have lost two of their last three games.
They got stunned last Sunday by the Northwestern Wildcats in a 64-58 road loss in Evanston. Purdue made 5 of its first nine 3-pointers in the Northwestern game before going cold from deep, missing all of their final 13 attempts from downtown. It’s not always going to be that bad for Purdue, though.
This is a team that went to Evanston ranked seventh in Division I basketball with 120.0 points per 100 possessions adjusted and second in Big Ten play with a 53.5 eFG%. The Under is 6-4 in Purdue’s last 10 games as the road team.
Betting on the Maryland Terrapins
- Regular Season Record: 17-8
Maryland is in much better form than the Boilermakers. The Terrapins are coming off a 74-68 win in College Park last Saturday against the Penn State Nittany Lions and are also 5-1 straight up in their last six outings. That stretch includes wins against the likes of the Wisconsin Badgers and the Indiana Hoosiers.
Maryland is a great defensive team. It is 21st in the nation with just 62.8 points allowed per game and 34th with opponents shooting just 46.8 eFG%. Although they lost to Purdue in the first meeting of these teams this season, 58-55, the Terrapins made life hard for the Boilermakers, who shot just 38.5 FG% and committed 15 turnovers in that contest.
Maryland has covered the spread in seven of its last 10 meetings versus the Boilermakers, dating back to 2017.
JefeBet Prediction
It’s about time for Purdue to wake up and make a statement game. This is a perfect opportunity for the Boilermakers to do it against a good Terrapins team on the road.
Prediction: Purdue covers.
