Milan Preview
This new start to the year has not been favorable to the reigning Serie A champions, as Milan have won just two of their nine games this 2023, including three draws and four defeats. Those four losses came in a row, but the Rossoneri managed to end its negative streak, beating Torino 1-0 on the weekend, and this will serve to gradually get back on track.
Milan also had struggled to qualify for this stage, needing two wins in the last two rounds of the group stage to secure their passage to this round as runners-up in Group E. The home side will face this match with a number of important absentees such as goalkeeper Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori, Sergiño Dest and Ismaël Bennacer, which will surely pose a problem for Stefano Pioli when it comes to putting together his eleven.
Possible lineup (3-4-2-1): Ciprian Tatarusanu, Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer, Malick Thiaw, Alexis Saelemakers, Rade Krunic, Sandro Tonali, Theo Hernandez, Brahim Diaz, Rafael Leao, Olivier Giroud.
Tottenham Preview
Tottenham has also experienced many ups and downs since the calendar change, winning five matches and losing four, but their preparation for this meeting was not the best after Leicestera club located in the bottom half of the Premier League table, humiliated them by beating them 4-1 last weekend.
It is worth noting that Spurs did not have an easy time in the previous round of the Champions League either, being part of a four-way battle in the toughest group of all, and had to wait until the last matchday to get their ticket to this stage.
Like Milan, Tottenham has a number of notable absentees in their squad, although they are not numerous. First is their first-choice goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris, and Rodrigo Bentancur will also miss the match after suffering a cruciate ligament injury against Leicester. They are joined by Ryan Sessegnon, although the latter is not seeing regular minutes.
Possible lineup (3-4-2-1): Fraser Forster, Japhet Tanganga, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Pedro Porro, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perišić, Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son, Harry Kane.
JefeBet Prediction
At JefeBet we expect this match to be a very exciting one, as both clubs arrive with two important losses in their defensive lines. Maignan is a key player for Milan, and although they allowed no goals in their last game, that 1-0 win was preceded by a stretch in which the Italian side allowed 15 goals in five games.
Tottenham also evidenced problems in this area last weekend when they were outplayed by Leicester City despite opening the scoring, but with Kulusevski, Son and Kane they could cause a lot of danger to any opponent.
Prediction: Over (MIL 2 – TOT 2)
