Betting on the Marquette Golden Eagles

  • Regular Season Record: 21-6

Marquette is the top team right now in the Big East Conference, with the Golden Eagles improving to 13-3 in league play after taking down the Xavier Musketeers last Thursday. The Golden Eagles didn’t have their usually high-scoring offense with them in that matchup versus Xavier but they still got the job done, which says a lot about how difficult it is to beat Marquette.

On the season, the Golden Eagles are a top-20 team in the nation in scoring offense with 80.7 points per game. They are so good at breaking down opposing defenses because of their passing. In fact, Marquette is top 10 nationally in assists per game (17.7) and fifth in the assist-to-turnover ratio department (1.62). When the Golden Eagles beat Creighton at home last December, 69-58, Oso Ighodaro paced Marquette with 16 points

Betting on the Creighton Bluejays

  • Regular Season Record: 18-9

After losing in double-overtime against the Providence Friars on Valentine’s Day, 94-86, Creighton did not waste much time in getting back to its feet. The Bluejays defeated the St. John’s Red Storm last Saturday on the road, 77-67, to improve to 12-4 in Big East play. The Bluejays were one of the hottest teams in the nation prior to the loss to Providence, as they entered that contest on an eight-game win streak.

While Creighton isn’t scoring at the same rate as Marquette, the Bluejays are still an above-average offensive team that also has an elite defense. They are top 30 in Division I basketball in terms of adjusted offensive efficiency and top 15 in adjusted defensive efficiency. Creighton is  5-5 ATS in its last 10 games.

JefeBet Prediction

Creighton is going to slow down Marquette this time around. The Bluejays are playing at a much higher level than the last time they shared the court with the Golden Eagles, who are about to find that out.

Prediction: Creighton covers.
