Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks
- Regular Season Record: 22-8
The Jayhawks haven’t suffered a loss in a while. Since losing to the Iowa State Hawkeyes on Feb. 4 on the road, the Jayhawks have won seven games in a row, including last Tuesday’s 67-63 squeaker versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders at home. That’s also Kansas’ 13th win in Big 12 play. Also among those conference wins was the Jayhawks’ 88-80 victory over Texas in Lawrence on Feb. 6.
Gradey Dick led Kansas in that game with 21 points on 7/11 shooting from the field with 2/3 mark from behind the arc as well. Because Kansas has plenty of talented scorers, the Jayhawks’ defense can be pretty underrated. But the truth is that Kansas can win with its defense, too. Kansas is a top-10 team this season in points allowed per 100 possessions adjusted. The Jayhawks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Texas Longhorns
- Regular Season Record: 25-5
Texas needs a big win to get back on track. The Longhorns have lost both their last two games. The last time they were on the court, they suffered a heartbreaking 75-73 loss in Fort Worth to the TCU Horned Frogs on Wednesday. Texas’ last two games were on the road, though, so a return to Austin could just be the cure for the Longhorns’ malaise.
The last time they played at home, the Longhorns thumped a very good Iowa State Hawkeyes team on Feb. 21 to the tune of a 72-54 score. Marcus Carr must also be feeling good about his chances to perform at a high level in this rematch against Kansas, considering that he went off for 29 points in the first meeting. Texas is 2-1 ATS in its last three games overall.
JefeBet Prediction
This is going to be a close game from start to finish. Marcus Carr isn’t probably going to off again the way he did the first time out, but another one or two will step up like Sir’Jabari Rice or Timmy Allen.
Prediction: Texas spread.
