Betting on the Arizona State Sun Devils
- Regular Season Record: 20-11
The Sun Devils did not have a very good end to their ACC schedule in the regular season, as they lost two games in a row to the UCLA Bruins and the USC Trojans last Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
But while their loss to the Bruins was an 18-point blowout, the Sun Devils showed more fight in the USC game, losing by only three points to a Pac-12 powerhouse. Oregon State is not a powerhouse, so Arizona State should be able to come up with a much better performance this Wednesday.
After all, the Sun Devils have defeated Oregon State in the only meeting they have had so far this season with the Beavers. Arizona State beat the Beavers on the road in January, 74-69. Arizona State’s defense is among the best in the nation, as it is top 30 overall in terms of adjusted defensive efficiency and top 20 in defensive effective field goal percentage. Arizona State is 3-1 ATS in its last four games.
Betting on the Oregon State Beavers
- Regular Season Record: 11-20
Oregon State managed to end its regular-season schedule on a positive note, as the Beavers beat the lowly California Golden Bears last Saturday at home, 69-66. Sure, that was just against the Golden Bears, who are one of the worst Power Five teams in the nation this season, but that victory ended Oregon State’s four-game losing skid. While it might be easy to write off Oregon State, it is worth remembering that this team also beat USC back in February at home, 61-58.
And in their loss to Arizona State, the Beavers actually had the lead at the end of the first half. Michael Rataj found holes in Arizona State’s defense in that game and led the Beavers with 17 points. The hope for the Beavers is that Jordan Pope will do better this time.
Pope, who leads the Beavers this season with 12.6 points per game, shot just 4/13 in the Arizona State game for nine points. There’s also Glenn Taylor Jr. who could still be hot after pouring in 28 points in the win over California. The Over is 3-0 in Oregon State’s last three games.
JefeBet Prediction
Arizona State’s defense puts on the clamps on the Beavers, who will struggle to get an efficient offense going, just like it’s always been this season.
Prediction: Arizona State wins, 72-62.
