The vast majority of the teams participating in the Chilean Primera Division League have already played their first nine games of the tournament, but there are some who have matches pending. Even so, one can see in the general standing which teams come with a better level, and are ready to fight for more.

Matchday 9 of the Chilean Primera Division had some good performances, despite the fact that two matches ended without goals. There were some that failed to end their bad streaks, and others that extended their good momentum. If you didn’t have the chance to follow the Andean soccer activity, JefeBet brings you everything that happened in this weekend’s eight matches.

Summary of the Chilean Primera Division Results in Matchday 9 Held on March 17 to 19, 2023

Nublense 1-2 Curico Unido (Mar 17)

Nublense lost by 1-2 against Curico Unido, and continued with a terrible streak of six games without a win. The first to take the lead was Curico with a goal by Omar Merlo in the 35th minute. Later, in the 43rd minute and from the penalty spot, Patricio Rubio of Nublense scored the equalizer.

With an even game at halftime, neither side was comfortable, but it was Nublense which opted to make changes to try to make its home advantage count. However, it didn’t work out, since Jason Flores scored the second goal to bring Curico back to winning ways after five games.

Huachipato 3-0 Everton (Mar 18)

Huachipato got three more points to keep fighting at the top of the standings with a 3-0 win over Everton. The Steelers took control of the match from the first 45 minutes, as it went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

The first goal was scored by Maximiliano Rodríguez in the 10th minute, and Cris Martínez increased the difference in the 23rd minute. Everton was expected to react, but it was not the case, since in the 50th minute, Brayan Palmezano scored the third goal for the locals and ended the hopes of the visitors.

O’Higgins 0-2 Coquimbo Unido (Mar 18)

O’Higgins continues to be in terrible shape. That was evident in the last match, where it lost by 0-2 against Coquimbo Unido. Although the Capo de Provincia had 62% of ball possession throughout the match, this control did not help the team score goals. The first half was uneventful for neither side, since they went into the break with a 0-0 draw.

And really everything seemed to indicate that there would be no goals, because although the clock was ticking and the teams had approaches, the goal did not come. However, in the 83rd minute, Fabián Carmona scored the first and with three minutes to go, Rubén Farfán completed the 2-0 win for the Pirates.

Cobresal 3-1 Colo Colo (Mar 18)

Cobresal beat the champion Colo Colo by 3-1, and it was not a surprise, since the Minero has performed better than the Cacique at the beginning of the season. Cobresal took advantage of the opportunities from the start, and took the lead in the 8th minute with a goal by Guillermo Pacheco.

One more goal was scored in the first half, when Panama’s Cecilio Waterman scored in the 34th minute. Argentine goalkeeper Leandro Requena completed the rout with a goal-to-goal strike in the 77th minute. Finally, the champion’s goal came in stoppage time, thanks to Damián Pizarro.

Unión La Calera 0-0 Audax Italiano (Mar 18)

Union La Calera and Audax Italiano were the protagonists of one of the two goalless draws in matchday 9 of La Liga Chilena. Union La Calera was the team with the most activity, taking advantage of its home grounds. In the 37th minute, César Pérez scored a goal, but the referee decided to disallow it for a previous foul, so the score remained 0-0 until halftime.

La Calera’s attacks continued, but the Italians were attentive enough to prevent the ball from reaching the net. Audax also generated danger in attack, but was unable to score. So, the team reached the end of the game with the score even.

Universidad de Chile 0-0 Copiapo (Mar 19)

The other match that ended with a 0-0 score was Universidad de Chile vs Copiapo. Despite both facing risks of goals in their nets, the ball refused to enter. The first half was dominated by Universidad de Chile, with 63% ball possession.

In the second half, the field became more balanced, and at minute 53′, Maximiliano Quinteros gave Copiapo the lead. However, the goal was later disallowed for offside. There was more excitement during the game, but the score remained intact.

Magallanes 1-1 Universidad Catolica (03/19)

Magallanes vs Universidad Catolica gave a fantastic show this weekend, in a match that had the visitors as favorites. In the first half, they did not hurt each other, keeping the score at 0-0.

In the second half, however, the Crusaders were encouraged to try a little more, and in the 56th minute, Alexander Aravena got the goal that opened the scoring. The victory for Catolica was a foregone conclusion, but Magallanes put up a fight. In the final stretch of the game, in the 84th minute, Julián Alfaro equalized to salvage a very important point for the home team.

Union Espanola 2-0 Palestino (Mar 19)

Union Espanola was a surprise on matchday 9, beating Palestino by 2-0. The Hispanic team has improved in the last few days, and once again proved its potential. The team was able to take the lead in the 8th minute with a goal by José Tiznado, and despite its opponent’s insistence, the team managed to reach halftime with a partial victory.

At the start of the second half, Leandro Garate scored the second goal for the Santa Laura team, securing their second victory in this tournament.
