Favorites
Aaron Judge (+600) / New York Yankees
We couldn’t expect another name to be the Vegas favorite to lead the category. Judge’s power is monstrous, and last season, he proved it by not only breaking the American home run record with 62, but he also led all of the baseball in home runs.
He has twice hit more than 50 home runs in his career, and has 220 round-trippers in 729 Major Leagues games.
Pete Alonso (+900) / New York Mets
Alonso is one of the most powerful bats in all baseball, and is a worthy contender to win the Major Leagues home run lead for the second time in his career.
In 2019, when he won the Nationals Rookie of the Year, the Mets first baseman broke the mark for most home runs for a rookie by hitting 53. In total, he has three seasons of at least 35 home runs, and has won the Home Run Derby twice.
Yordan Álvarez (+1000) / Houston Astros
The Astros’ Cuban has shown the last few seasons the enormous power he has in the batter’s box, and should be close to fighting for a Major Leagues home run lead.
Álvarez hit 27 home runs in his rookie year, and after the shortened 2020 season, in which he played only two games, he got a string of 30-plus home runs for the Houston organization.
Sleeper Picks
Kyle Schwarber (+1000) / Philadelphia Phillies
Kyle Schawarber may not hit much for average, but we can’t deny him that the power of his bat is one of the most feared by all Major Leagues pitchers.
The Phillies player is coming off a National League-leading 46 home runs, and, leaving aside the 2020 season, he has hit at least 30 home runs in three of the last four seasons.
Mike Trout (+1100) / Anaheim Angels
Despite never having won a Major Leagues home run lead, Mike Trout is one of the most powerful players in baseball, and his numbers prove it.
In his 12-season career, the Angels outfielder has hit at least 30 home runs seven times, and has topped the 40-homer mark three times. After 1,407 games played in the Major Leagues, he has an excellent record of 350 round-trippers.
Dark Horse
Giancarlo Stanton (+3300) / New York Yankees
If there is one thing you can’t take away from Giancarlo Stanton, it’s that his power is still present in his game, and that every time he comes to the batter’s box, he is capable of hitting wonderful homers in any ballpark.
In 2014, Stanton led the Nationals in home runs with 37, while in 2017, when he was MVP of the old circuit, he led with 57 blasts. The outfielder has two straight seasons with more than 30 home runs with the Yankees, and has a total of seven consecutive seasons of at least 30 at-bats in the Major Leagues.
JefeBet Prediction
Judge is unlikely to repeat last season’s performance, but with a calmer mind following a contract extension with the Yankees, the outfielder should remain one of the best home run hitters in baseball.
His size and strength, coupled with his talent in the batter’s box, allow him to hit the ball with force and be the spark plug of the New York lineup. Actually, in 2021, he connected 39 for the street, and on two occasions, he has given more than 50 home runs. Therefore, Judge is our candidate to repeat the title in the Major Leagues.
Prediction: Aaron Judge.
