Predictions, Odds, and Betting Preview for the Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns NBA Playoffs Game 1 on April 16, 2023

  • Where: Footprint Center, Phoenix
  • When: Sunday, April 16, 2023

Betting on the Los Angeles Clippers

  • Regular Season Record: 44-38

The Clippers are heading to the NBA Playoffs in great form, as they rounded out their regular-season schedule with three wins in a row, including a 119-114 victory on the road against the Suns last Sunday. Granted that Phoenix did not have its star players active for that game, the Clippers at least managed to sustain its momentum.

Paul George remains sidelined with a lower-body injury, but the Clippers will have Kawhi Leonard ready to go along with Russell Westbrook. The two combined for 50 points in the win over Phoenix. The Clippers shot just 5/23 from deep in that meeting with the Suns, though, that could also mean that they can see positive regression on their outside shooting in the next game. The Clippers were third in the league in the regular season with a 38.1 3FG% and 10th with 12.7 made 3-pointers per contest.

Betting on the Phoenix Suns

  • Regular Season Record: 45-37

The Suns are No. 4 in the Western Conference but they’re a much more terrifying bunch than what their seed suggests. With Kevin Durant coming to town, the Suns are undeniably loaded. Durant is a matchup problem for any team, and he should be a huge problem for the Clippers, who are already down one major perimeter defender in PG 13. Since joining the Suns, Durant has averaged 26.0 points on 57 percent shooting from the field.

And then there are the likes of Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton, each a threat to break down defenses. Phoenix also doesn’t just rely on pure individual talent, as the Suns love to move the ball around. In fact, the Suns ended the regular season fourth in the NBA with 27.3 assists per game and third with 0.637 assists per field goal made.

JefeBet Prediction

The Clippers and the Suns play a close one from start to finish. Even though they’re missing George, the Clippers can always count on Leonard to deliver the goods. The Suns win but only by a small margin.

Prediction: Suns win, 116-113.
