Betting on the Chicago Bulls
- Regular Season Record: 40-42
With a little help from DeMar DeRozan’s daughter, the Bulls were able to erase a 19-point deficit in their Play-in Tournament matchup against the Toronto Raptors on the road Wednesday and escape Canada with a 109-105 victory. Zach LaVine was piping hot in that game, particularly in the second half, as he finished with 39 points on 12/22 shooting from the field.
The Bulls winning in that contest is bad news for Miami because it appears that Chicago has the Heat’s number. The Bulls won all three meetings with Miami in the regular season, two of which were played in South Beach. In addition to that, the Bulls have covered the spread in eight of their 11 trips to Miami, dating back to the 2016-17 NBA season.
Betting on the Miami Heat
- Regular Season Record: 44-38
The Heat simply did not have it in their Play-in Tournament 116-105 home loss to the Atlanta Hawks last Tuesday. Miami played flat right out of the gate and was left chasing the Hawks all game long. Jimmy Butler scored 21 points but went 6/19 from the field. One great sign still for Miami, though, is the performance of veteran guard Kyle Lowry, who went off for 33 points on 11/16 shooting coming off the bench versus the Hawks.
A seeming advantage for the Heat in this upcoming matchup against the Bulls is Miami’s longer rest period. The Heat would have rested for two full days to just one for Chicago by the time this game is played on Friday. Plus, the Heat don’t have to travel. The Heat have covered the spread in four of their last five games as the home team. They are also 4-1 ATS in their last vie games against a team that owns a losing record on the road. (The Bulls finished the regular season with just an 18-23 road record).
JefeBet Prediction
DeRozan and LaVine get plenty of chances at the foul line against Miami which let Atlanta take 27 free-throw attempts last Tuesday. That should be enough for the Bulls to get at least a cover.
Prediction: The Bulls win, 112-110.
