Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers
- Regular Season Record: 54-28
In Game 2, the 76ers reminded everyone that they are an incredibly good defensive team. The Nets got held to fewer than 90 points and only 37.5 percent shooting from the field in a 96-84 victory by Philly. Joel Embiid put up only 20 points but he grabbed 19 rebounds and even dished out seven assists plus three blocks to become just the first player since Kevin Garnett in 2004 to have those numbers in a playoff game.
Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey rebounded from a forgettable individual performance in the series opener by erupting for 33 points on 13/23 shooting in Game 2. Philadelphia just has so many weapons firing at the same time while disorienting the Nets’ defense. The Sixers are also winning the rebounding battle by a wide margin in the series, with Philadelphia averaging 13 more rebounds (47-34) than Brooklyn in the first round.
Betting on the Brooklyn Nets
- Regular Season Record: 45-37
The Nets are performing against Philadelphia the way many expected them to. It’s been definitely a struggle for Mikal Bridges and the Nets in the first round, but it’s not over ’til it’s over. As they say, a playoff series never really starts until the road team wins a game, so look for Brooklyn to go all out in Game 3.
In Game 2, Cameron Johnson paced the Nets with 28 points, while Bridges chipped in 21 points, Bridges and Johnson are the two most consistent performers for the Nets in the series, which means it’s the lack of support from the other Brooklyn players that’s also dooming the team. Only Spencer Dinwiddie is the non-Bridges/Johnson Net who’s averaging double-digit scoring in the series at 13.0 PPG and he’s even shooting a terrible 38.5 percent at that. Seth Curry, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Nic Claxton have to be involved more in order to loosen up Philly’s defense and open up more consistent scoring opportunities.
JefeBet Prediction
It’s obvious that the Nets can’t hang with the Sixers from start to finish of a game. They just lack the firepower to keep up. The Sixers score another comfortable win in Game 3.
Prediction: The Sixers win, 110-100.
