Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies

Grizzlies vs Lakers Predictions Picks Odds NBA April 22 2023
  • Regular Season Record: 51-31

The Grizzlies did not even need Ja Morant in Game 2 to soundly defeat the Lakers in Game 2, 103-93. All they actually needed was a surprising performance from Xavier Tillman, who put together a stat line of 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Those are ordinary numbers for superstars but Tillman isn’t one, and the fact that he played that well showed the Memphis is deep enough to survive at least a game of absence from Morant. The Grizzlies had even proven that over and over again back in the regular season when they kept on winning while Morant was serving a long suspension. Morant could be back in action though this Saturday, which will be more bad news for the Lakers, who just allowed backup PG Tyus Jones to gather 10 points, eight assists, and eight rebounds in Game 2.

Betting on the Los Angeles Lakers

Grizzlies vs Lakers Predictions Picks Odds NBA April 22 2023
  • Regular Season Record: 43-39

The Lakers were let down by Anthony Davis in Game 2. AD was sensational in the series opener but just did not have it on Wednesday, scoring just 13 points on 4/14 shooting from the field. He did have nine rebounds and five blocks, but it’s always going to be his scoring that the Lakers would want from before anything else most of the time.

D’Angelo Russell must also be aching for a chance to atone for his atrocious 2/11 shooting in Game 2. Los Angeles struggled early in Game 2 in part because it had five of its total 10 turnovers in the opening period. That’s a fixable issue that the Lakers can address this Saturday. LeBron James heads to Game 3 with extra motivation as well after Dillon Brooks’ controversial takes about the four-time league MVP’s age following Memphis’ win.

JefeBet Prediction

Watch out for a LeBron James takeover in Game 3, but it’s going to be Davis and Russell who will key LA’s success this weekend at home.

Prediction: The Lakers win, 115-109.
