Silent Heist at Stardust Casino

As the old Latin saying goes, a barking dog doesn’t bite. Well, the same goes for heists, as one of the most famous casino robberies was done in complete silence.

It all went down one September morning in 1992, when Bill Brennan decided to quit his job at the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas. Back then, Sin City was full of casinos, but security measures weren’t quite up to par.

Meet Bill, the sneaky casino employee who managed to walk out with a cool $500,000 in cash and a handful of chips. The Nevada police were left scratching their heads for hours, unable to crack the case. But why was Bill able to pull off this epic heist? Well, as an employee of the hotel/casino, he knew exactly where the weak spots in security were.

By the time the police caught on to Bill’s shenanigans, he had already vanished without a trace from his apartment. To this day, little is known about the elusive mastermind behind one of the biggest casino heists of all time.

What we do know is that Bill had recently applied for a promotion to manager, but was denied. Some say the robbery was his way of getting revenge. But who knows? Maybe we’ll never find out.

A Romantic Heist at the Circus Circus Casino in Las Vegas

This story teaches us a lesson about what we should never do for love, no matter how head-over-heels we may be.

Meet Heather Catherine Tallchief, a 21-year-old armored vehicle driver who replenished ATMs in Las Vegas casinos. She was deeply in love with a criminal named Roberto Solís and saw an opportunity to live a movie-worthy life with the man of her dreams.

Solís was twice her age, 44 at the time, but Heather was smitten and went along with his plan to steal $2.5 million. He had already prepared everything for his girl to pull off the heist.

The plan? Take advantage while Heather’s colleagues were restocking the ATMs at the Circus Circus to make off with the remaining cash in the truck. When they parked at the Circus Circus, the truck had $4.5 million, of which $2 million was supposed to be delivered there. Heather had a 45-minute window that she knew how to take advantage of, escaping with $2.5 million in search of Roberto.

They both made off with the loot in a private jet and were not heard from again until 2005 when Heather turned herself in to the authorities after spending the previous years working at a hotel in Europe. Heather’s story had a sad ending because Roberto Solís ran off with all the money, leaving her the day he found out she was pregnant with his child.

The Dumbest Casino Heist Ever: Anthony Carleo at the Bellagio Las Vegas

Top 3 Biggest Casino Heists of All Time in Las Vegas

If Heather’s story left you feeling sad, wait until you hear about one of the biggest casino heists of all time, considered the dumbest of them all. Anthony Carleo, a 29-year-old student, walked into the Bellagio casino in 2010 like any other player, except he was armed and had intentions of walking out with several hundred thousand dollars.

And he actually did it. He approached a table, grabbed as many chips as he could, and left the casino at gunpoint with chips valued at $1.5 million. What Anthony didn’t know was that these chips, especially the high-value ones, were only valid at the Bellagio casino. Plus, they had a radio frequency system to be identified, and after the heist, they were completely deactivated.

Anthony tried to exchange the lower value chips, but he could only do so within the casino. The $25,000 chips had already been cancelled, so he could only try to get his hands on around $400,000 worth of small chips, but he couldn’t even manage that.

His best idea was to try and use the chips to play and multiply his money. However, what ended up happening was that he lost all the small chips. He was left with the big chips that, in theory, were useless, but Anthony wanted to make one last play to try and get away with it.

When he tried to sell the chips online in 2010, he was caught by someone connected to the casino who posed as a buyer. Carleo ended up in jail without being able to pull off the heist as he had hoped.
