Liga MX Clausura 2023 Liguilla Predictions, Picks, Odds and Betting Preview
Favorites
Monterrey (Odds +225)
Rayados de Monterrey was the absolute leader in the regular phase of the Clausura 2023 with a record of 13 wins, one draw and three defeats, for a total of 40 points. It was the team with most victories, and the key to success was found by balancing all its lines, being the second-best offense and the second-best defense, with 35 goals scored and 14 conceded.
Unlike other leagues in the world, in Mexico it is difficult for the champion to be the team that finished in first place, since the Liguilla is a separate tournament where there are usually many surprises. The regio will have to continue with the level they have shown so far to break the curse of the super leader. However, Monterrey is the main favorite to be champion.
America (Odds +350)
In the Mexican soccer history, America stands as the most successful team with an impressive 13 titles under their belt. For the past four years, they’ve been chasing a trophy that has eluded them, but this tournament presents them with yet another opportunity.
The Coapa squad finished second in the overall standings, with nine wins, seven draws, and just one loss in 17 matches. Having the fewest losses in the league puts them in the running for the championship. Additionally, the blue and yellow team showed their offensive prowess, scoring the most goals in the tournament with a whopping 36.
Chivas (Odds +600)
Chivas did not start off well but managed to recover and closed the regular season strongly to qualify for the top four. It is Mexico’s most popular team and the second team with most victories in history. It is about to be six years since their last title, and for the first time in a long time they are solid at this stage.
The Tapatío team registers 10 wins, four draws and three defeats in the tournament, but finished the regular phase with a five-game unbeaten streak with four consecutive victories, which allowed them to improve their position in the table. Right now, Chivas is the third favorite to become champion.

Sleeper Picks
Toluca (Odds +600)
Toluca was hovering in the top five of the overall standings for most of the tournament. It registers nine wins, five draws and three losses. It was bolstered by its attack, which scored the third-highest number of goals in the tournament with 34. Thanks to a 3-0 win over Necaxa, they made it into the group of teams that advance directly to the quarterfinals.
The scarlet team is a specialist in short tournaments, being the maximum winner since the change to that modality, and that is the main reason why they cannot be left out in this group.
Pachuca (Odds +1100)
The current Liga MX champion, Pachuca, is once again in the Liguilla, and although it must first pass the Playoff phase, it is considered one of the contenders for the title. This tournament was not like the previous one, as it had suffered many ups and downs. Their defense did not work at the same level as it did in the Apertura 2022 and that was the reason why they doubled the number of defeats in this Clausura 2023.
They finished the regular season with 10 wins, one draw and six losses, but come into their playoff game on the back of two consecutive victories, indicating that they have improved in the end of the regular phase.
Dark Horse
Santos (Odds +4900)
The dark horse to watch out for in Clausura 2023 is Santos, who secured the last spot in the Liguilla. They won five, drew four, and lost eight of the 17 games they played, finishing with a total of 19 points.
Mathematically, they were out of the running, but thanks to a penalty against Queretaro, they made it to the Playoffs. Now, they’ll face off against the reigning champions in a decisive match, but Mexican soccer has a history of underdogs pulling off upsets against the favorites.
JefeBet Prediction
At JefeBet we believe that in this Liguilla the strongest teams will be the ones that go directly to the quarterfinals, and that the champion will come from among them. Based on the statistics, Monterrey is the team that has the most merits to win the title for having completed the most victories.
They have not won a Clausura tournament for 20 years, and could put an end to that by winning their sixth title in the history of Mexican soccer.
