For this game against the Padres, the Mariners will call on Logan Gilbert to start on the mound. This will also be Gilbert’s first appearance this month of June following a decent May. Last month, Gilbert went 2-2 with a 3.96 ERA and an opponents’ batting average of only .197 across six starts.
In his most recent start, Gilbert allowed five earned runs on seven hits in just four innings of a 10-2 loss to the New York Yankees at home, but that’s just the first time he allowed more than three runs in a start since the calendar flipped to May. Gilbert can hope for Seattle’s bats to come alive and provide ample run support.
