The 36-year-old Murray suffered an early exit at the Cinch Championships during his preparation for the 2023 Wimbledon, losing in the first round at the hands of Alex De Minaur. If anything, that leaves his body with more rest ahead of the Grand Slam event at All England Club. Murray is a former Wimbledon champ himself. In fact, he won it two times before, reigning supreme in 2013 and in 2016 when he achieved world no. 1 status. So far in his career, Murray has three Grand Slam titles. Murray is clearly no longer the top player he used to be, but his experience and pride plus the fact that he will be playing in front of his countrymen could boost him to surprising success at Wimbledon.

Ranked no. 18 in the world, Hurkacz is out to put up a much better performance at Wimbledon this year than he did in 2022. Last year, he struck out right in the very first round, losing to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, but since then, he’s reached the third round at least in two of his next Grand Slam events. Although Hurkacz is more of a hard-court player, he owns a 17-11 win-loss record so far in his career in ATP Tour and Grand Slam grass matches.

There is still so much in front of Shapovalov. While he’s yet to win a Grand Slam title, he’s just 24 years old and already has plenty of close calls to a major win. He’s reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, the third round of the French Open, the quarterfinals of the US Open, and the deepest he’s been to in such a tournament was a semifinals appearance at the 2021 Wimbledon when he lost in three competitive sets to Novak Djokovic to the tune of a 6-7 (3-7), 5-7, 5-7 score.
