Betting on the Cincinnati Reds (+165)
The Reds are sitting atop the rest of the National League Central division with a 56-57 record. They are on pace to win the the NL Central, but they still can’t feel too relaxed with plenty of baseball yet to be played. Nevertheless, they are always a threat against any team, especially because of their offense. At the time of this writing, the Reds are 10th in the big leagues with 4.84 runs per game and eighth in BABIP (.310).
As for their pitching, the Reds will send Brandon Williams to the mound in this series opener versus the Dodgers. Williamson is 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in four starts this month of July. He tamed Arizona Diamondbacks in his most recent trip to the mound, allowing just an earned run on three hits in 6.0 innings of a 4-2 victory. On the season,
Starting pitcher: Brandon Williamson (2-2, 4.60 ERA)
Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (-195)
The Dodgers are coming off a gut-wrenching 8-1 loss at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays in a series finale last Wednesday at home. Los Angeles has now lost three of its last four games. Despite their recent struggles, the Dodgers are still No. 1 in the National League West division wtih a 58-42 record. The Dodgers are also still sporting a formidable 30-17 record in games played at Dodger Stadium.
Getting the nod to start this Friday for the Dodgers is the young Bobby Miller, who put up a decent performance in his last start against the powerful bats of the Texas Rangers last Saturday. In that game, he allowed three earned runs on seven hits with zero walks and six strikeouts in a 16-3 victory. Obviously, the Dodgers’ incredible run production made life so much easier for Miller. It’s unlikely that they score that many runs in this game against the Reds, but as a team, they have a career batting average of .300 versus Williamson.
Starting pitcher: Bobby Miller (6-1, 4.28 ERA)
El Jefe’s Prediction on Cincinnati Reds vs Los Angeles Dodgers
