Martin Truex Jr. (+450 on DraftKings)
Truex leads all drivers this season with 711 points. He has three wins and eight top 5s to date and is coming off back-to-back podium finishes with a win in the Crayon 301 in New Hampshire 301 and a third place in the HighPoint.com 400. Truex also has three wins and nine top 5s in 34 career starts at Richmond Raceway. He has also cracked the top five in seven of his last nine appearances there, dating back to 2018.
Kyle Larson (+600 on DraftKings)
Larson had 20th place last week in the HighPoint.com 400 but was able to lead for 24 laps. That also came after a solid third-place finish in New Hampshire. He has finished inside the top five in three of his last five starts but the most important thing to know about Larson heading into this weekend’s race is the fact that he just won at Richmond Raceway last April when he topped the field in the Toyota Owners 400. He has two wins in 17 starts there with four top 5s and eight top 10s.
Denny Hamlin (+650 on DraftKings)
Hamlin just won last week at Pocono Raceway, so momentum is not a problem for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver. He has a five-race streak of top 15s alive, with three top 10s in that stretch. Hamlin also has an excellent career average finish of 8.7 at Richmond Raceway.
Sleeper Picks
Ross Chastain (+1600 on DraftKings)
Coming off a 13th-place finish at Pocono, Chastain will look to be better this coming Sunday. He just finished third at Richmond Raceway in last April’s Toyota Owners 400.
Ryan Blaney (+2000 on DraftKings)
The Penske driver hasn’t looked so good of late. He was 22nd in New Hampshire and 30th at Pocono. That said, Blaney has two top 10s in his last three starts at Richmond Raceway.
Dark Horse
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (+20000 on DraftKings)
Stenhouse is still looking for his second win of the season but he appears to be trending in the right direction toward that goal after three top 20s and two top 10s in his last three starts.
El Jefe’s Prediction on 2023 Cook Out 400
Hamlin stays hot and wins the 2023 Cook Out 400 for his third win of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series campaign.
