Betting on the Oakland Athletics (TBA)
The Athletics lost in their last game, a series-finale 2-0 loss at the hands of the Colorado Rockies in Denver last Sunday. However, the A’s feel as though they had a nice little run at Coors Field, particularly since they won the first two games of the series against the Rockies.
Taking the mound for Oakland later tonight is Ken Waldichuk, who has had a mixed bag of results in his past few starts. In his most recent appearance, Waldichuk tossed 4.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a 2-1 road loss to the San Francisco Giants last Tuesday. He has not pitched for more than 4.2 innings in any of his last 15 appearances, though, that’s not really very surprising because he’s been used a lot of times as a reliever this season. Offensively, Seth Brown could be the man for the A’s, as he is 4-for-11 with two home runs in his career against Dodgers starter Lance Lynn.

Lance Lynn will make his debut for the Dodgers tonight. Lynn was acquired by Los Angeles via a trade with the Chicago White Sox just ahead of the deadline, and he’ll look to make a good impression right away. That’s a relatively easy task to accomplish against a team like the Athletics, who have the worst offense in the big leagues. The A’s are last in the MLB in both batting average (.223) and OPS (.661).
Lynn, however, hasn’t been good of late. He has allowed 13 earned runs on 15 hits through 11.1 innings in his last two starts. Then again, he will be up against the Athletics, so it appears that he’s due for a solid start.
