Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (TBA)
Thanks to their scorching offense, the Dodgers got away with a win in the series opener versus San Diego. The Dodgers have scored at least eight runs in each of their last three games, and as of Friday night, one of only two teams in the entire majors with at least 35 runs thus far this month of August. Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are pacing the Dodgers’ offense as usual, but even guys like James Outman, Will Smith, and David Peralta have stepped up of late. Outman and Peralta combined for 6-got-12 and five RBIs.
Ryan Yarbrough could be the one stepping on the mound to start for the Dodgers later tonight. The Dodgers have won in four of his last five appearances. Moreover, he’s gone 3-1 with a 2.19 ERA in his last four starts.
Starting pitcher: Ryan Yarbrough (4-5, 4.24 ERA)
Betting on the San Diego Padres (TBA)
The Padres will look to get back in the win column following their loss to Los Angeles. They will have a brilliant pitcher starting for them this Saturday in the form of Blake Snell, who has simply been amazing this season for the team, especially in his last several starts. In his most recent outing, Snell allowed zero earned runs on four hits in 5.0 innings of a 5-4 home loss to the Texas Rangers. He’s allowed nine walks in his last two starts, but that can easily be forgotten when considering the fact that he’s 3-1 with an incredible 0.67 ERA in his last five starts, with hitters batting just .163 against him in that stretch.
San Diego’s offense hasn’t been too shabby either of late, notwithstanding the loss to Los Angeles. The Padres have manufactured at least five runs in each of their last three games.
Starting pitcher: Blake Snell (8-8, 2.50 ERA)
El Jefe’s Prediction on Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres
The Padres are going to get terrific pitching from Snell again, who deserves to be trusted until he shows serious signs of slowing down.
Prediction:
The Padres win, 4-2.
