Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (+5)
Preseason record: 0-0
All eyes for the Colts will be on rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson in this upcoming game on Saturday. Selected fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Colts, Richardson can be expected to see action against the Bills. He is believed to be the future of Indianapolis in the quarterback position, and they will find out more about that in the days and months to come. The Colts are 4-1-2 against the spread in their last seven preseason games.
But he will also be sharing the duties of running the Colts’ offense on the field with Gardner Minshew and Sam Ehlinger. Minshew is the biggest challenger to Richardson’s chances to be named Week 1 starter for the Colts for a good reason. After all, he’s more experienced. Still, it’s hard to deny Richardson’s potential. Last year with the Florida Gators, Richardson passed for 2,549 yards and rushed for 654.
Betting on the Buffalo Bills (-5)
Preseason record: 0-0
The preseason is not for Josh Allen, as he’s already a known item for the Bills. Instead, the pair of Kyle Allen and Matt Barkley is expected to pick up most of the load in this preseason contest versus the Colts. Buffalo’s QBs will be protected by an offensive line that got a shot in the arm via the draft, as the Bills selected O’Cyrus Torrence 59th overall.
He was a highly-rated guard ahead of the draft and he could potentially win a starting role for the Bills with an excellent performance against the Colts. On the flip side, Buffalo’s pass rush might have plenty of success in this game, as Indianapolis was 28th in the league last season with a 9.04 percent offensive sack rate. Then again, Richardson is a much more mobile QB than Matt Ryan and the same can also be said about Minshew. Still, there’s a lot of promise on both offense and defense for Buffalo, which was top five last season in scoring offense and scoring defense.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Indianapolis Colts vs Buffalo Bills
If Richardson is special, expect him to do special things this Saturday. I’m counting on it. Taking the Colts to cover, at the very least.
Prediction:
The Bills win, 23-22.
