Betting on Mexico
Mexico arrive in Manila looking to best their 14th place finish nine years ago in the FIBA World Cup in Spain. The pair of Paul Stoll and Pako Cruz is expected to be leaned on heavily by Mexico in the games.
Stoll is already 37 years old, but he can still definitely bring a lot to the table for his team. During the FIBA Americas Qualifiers earlier this year, Stoll led Mexico in efficiency per game (14.7) while scoring 10.7 points and a team-best 5.1 assists per contest. Cruz, on the other hand, is a proven bucket-getter for Mexico. Like Stoll, Cruz was part of the Mexican team that played in Spain in 2014 and he averaged 12.2 points and 2.7 assists per contest.
Betting on Montenegro
One thing about Montenegro is that they have an incredible ceiling. They have the tallest among the 32 teams in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, so look for them to take advantage of that. Of course, leading the charge for Montenegro is no other than Chicago Bull star center Nikola Vucevic. A four-time NBA All-Star, Vucevic played in all 82 games last season with the Bulls and averaged 17.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest.
Montenegro, however, is more than just about Vooch and what he can do on the floor. They also have naturalized player Kendrick Perry, who will provide stability in the backcourt for Montenegro, and another giant in Bojan Dubljevic, who will be another headache for opposing teams. Dubljevic averaged 16.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in the European World Cup Qualifiers.
