It’s time to see CJ Stroud in REAL action. The Texans will deploy their prized rookie quarterback in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL regular season against the Ravens on the road with the hopes that he will flash signs of brilliance. Selected second overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, Stroud passed for 3,668 yards and 41 touchdowns with only six interceptions through 13 games for the Ohio State Buckeyes. There are still questions about Stroud that will only be answered with more play from the rookie, but the belief is that the Texans will take a step forward on offense with him running the show. After averaging just 30.0 points per game in 2022, there’s really no way but up for Houston, which also got a boost on defense by taking stud pass rusher and Alabama Crimson Tide product Will Anderson.

Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (-9.5)

Unlike the Texans, Baltimore has zero things to find about the quality of play of their quarterback. After signing a new contract with the Ravens, Lamar Jackson has all his focus trained on leading his team to success. The addition of Odell Beckcham Jr. to the offense also excites Baltimore fans even though OBJ is unlikely to be as dangerous and effective as he used to be when he was still with the New York Giants. With JK Dobbins healthy, the Ravens’ ground attack is also getting more hype despite already finishing third in the 2023 NFL season with 159.7 rushing yards per game. Dobbins could come away as the biggest star of the show against the Texans, who were the worst in run defense in 2022. Then again, don’t forget that Jackson is also an incredibly gifted rusher.
