Betting on the Texas Longhorns (+7.5)
Regular season record: 1-0
Texas started its 2023 campaign with a bang – as expected. Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns demolished the Rice Owls in Austin last week, 37-10. Ewers passed for 260 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions on 19/30 completions.
The Longhorns also racked up 458 total yards while allowing only 176 to the Owls. It is not going to be as easy for the Longhorns, though, this coming weekend, as Alabama is Alabama. Plus, Texas is playing the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. However, it was just a year ago when Ewers and the Longhorns came just two points short of beating Alabama at home.
Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (-7.5)
Regular season record: 1-0
As mentioned above, Alabama is Alabama. The Crimson Tide showed steamrolled past the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in Week 1 at home, 56-7. Jalen Milroe went 13/18 for 194 yards and three touchdowns. He also paced the Crimson Tide with 48 rushing yards to go with two touchdowns on just seven carries.
Middle Tennessee was never going to be a test for Alabama, which entered the season ranked No. 1 in the nation. While they no longer have Bryce Young under center, the Crimson Tide, Milroe has the look of a worthy successor for the current Carolina Panthers QB. Defensively, Alabama looks just as stout, so the team can be expected to be just fine and more on both ends come Saturday.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Texas Longhorns vs Alabama Crimson Tide
Milroe throws for multiple touchdowns, while Alabama’s defense slows down Ewers in a dominant victory.
Prediction:
Alabama wins, 24-13.
