Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (+3)
Regular season record: 1-1
The Steelers are coming off a brutal game against the Cleveland Browns last Monday which they won, 26-22, thanks in large part to their defense. Pittsburgh’s stop unit scored two touchdowns, with Alex Highsmith and TJ Watt leading the group. Although the Steelers are just 23rd this season with 26.0 points allowed per game, they are fourth with 2.5 takeaways per contest.
That doesn’t sound very good for the Raiders, who committed three turnovers in Week 2. Pittsburgh was relentless defensively in the Browns game, recording six sacks, an interception, and getting Cleveland to lose three of four fumbles. That kind of defense could spell the difference in favor of the Steelers in Las Vegas.
Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders (-3)
Regular season record: 1-1
After winning in the season opener, 17-16, on the road against the Denver Broncos, the Raiders were humbled by the Buffalo Bills in a 38-10 loss in Orchard Park last Sunday. Jimmy Garoppolo passed for only 185 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions on 16/24 completions while running back Josh Jacobs rushed for minus-2 yards on nine rushing attempts.
First of all, Jacobs has to be better. He led the league in rushing yards just last year, so the Raiders know he is very much capable of putting up a great performance regardless of the defense in front of him. As great as the Steelers’ defense was in Week 2, they still got carved up for 106 rushing yards by Browns backup Jerome Ford. Plus, the Raiders could be getting back wide receiver Jakobi Meyers from a head injury that forced him to miss the Bills game.

The Steelers can’t just always rely on their defense to score the points for them. With Kenny Pickett still struggling, look for the Raiders to make enough stops on defense on their way to a win and cover.
