The Dallas Cowboys did a part of their job during the early days of free agency, but they still need to keep putting the team together if they want to be contenders in the 2022 season and for that they will have to look for players in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Dallas Cowboys took on the task of looking for important players in free agency to begin the restructuring in search of being able to return to the Super Bowl.
The second week of free agency is coming to an end, and although they have put together in good shape, they know that they still need to strengthen some sectors. It is estimated that they have a salary cap space of $17 million dollars, according to information from the OverTheCap.com portal, so they can still aspire to get more players.
The main job was to re-sign 10 of their players and so they did, in addition to retaining those who believed they are key in their positions, although here they suffered the loss of defensive end, Randy Gregory, who left for the Denver Broncos.
There are still some players available in free agency that could interest the Dallas Cowboys, such as safety Tyrann Mathieu and defensive wingers Jadeveon Clowney, Jason Pierre-Paul and Arden Key.
And although they added Dante Fowler Jr. and James Washington to reinforce the offense, they could be thinking about one of the aforementioned ones, to give objectives to their quarterback, Dak Prescott.
What are the Needs of the Dallas Cowboys?
Only they can’t concentrate on free agents, since in five weeks the 2022 NFL Draft will take place and there they will also have the opportunity to hunt for talent.
The Dallas Cowboys’ priority should be to replace the receivers who left (Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson). They managed to retain Michael Gallup and added James Washington, but they could still try to get one of the youngsters in the draft.
However, his #24 pick is not expected to be used on a receiver. Perhaps, that selection was used to get a guard or a center, targeting Tyler Linderbaum of Iowa and Kenyon Green of Texas A&M, respectively.
They will also need to look for offensive and defensive tackles.
One more piece to the Dallas puzzle should be a kicker. They managed to retain Bryan Anger, and also added Chris Naggar to the position.
They have several slots to fill and four fourth-round picks available that they’ll need to use wisely.
The Dallas Cowboys will need to put together a strong team in every way to end a 26-year streak without getting to the Super Bowl.
