After the humiliating loss of the Phoenix Suns in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Dallas Mavericks, Chris Paul did not hesitate to talk about his plan for the 2022/23 NBA season.

“They said that last year. They probably said it back in ’08. You know, you play long enough and you don’t win, every time you lose they’re gonna say it was your best chance,” said the star point guard when denying that he intends to retire from professional basketball.

“I’m not retiring tomorrow, thank God. Hopefully, I’m healthy coming back. But I’m going to keep playing.”

Clearly, the previous are statements that confirm the American’s intention to remain active. Historically, he has not been able to be a winning figure in the playoffs, and that is something that has strongly hit his legacy in the NBA. Even so, despite the fact that he was recently added to the 75th anniversary roster of the league.

Even though there is a moment of great frustration within the Phoenix team due to the way in which the elimination occurs against the team led by Luka Dončić, after dominating the regular round from start to finish with a record of 64 wins and 18 losses, this team will maintain a solid base capable of remaining in the elite of the league for years to come.

Likewise, let’s remember that we are talking about a player who still has three years left on his contract with the Suns, where he would earn $28.4 million in 2022/23, $30.8 million in 2023/24, and $30 million in the non-guaranteed 2024/25 campaign.
