Jake Paul Keeps Looking for an Opponent and May Face a Former NBA Player

Boxing co-promoter Jake Paul wears a "Make Boxing Great Again" cap during a press conference at the Leadenhall Building in London, on the second leg of the press tour to promote the upcoming fight between Ireland's Katie Taylor and Puerto Rico's Amanda Serrano, Monday, Feb. 7, 2022. In one of the biggest events in women's boxing history Katie Taylor will defend her lightweight titles against Amanda Serrano on April 30 in what organizers say will be the first women's boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden. Jake Paul will be back in the ring in August, as he revealed himself via Twitter, but he’s still looking for an opponent for his Pay Per View event.

Shams Charania of The Athletic recently reported that one of the candidates could be a former NBA player. We are talking about Glen Davis, a basketball player who played for teams like the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers before retiring in 2015.

Glen Davis hasn’t had an in-ring experience so far, but Jake Paul’s company, Most Valuable Promotions, has been organizing a fight between Davis and another former NBA player, Larry Sanders, who was part of the Milwaukee Bucks. However, this seems to have fallen through after Sanders committed to the basketball league Big 3.

Now without an opponent to face, Glen Davis could face Jake Paul in August, although he is just one of all the names that is being thrown around to face the influencer in said month. Former UFC world champion Anderson Silva has also been tossed around as a possible candidate, while Tommy Fury still has a fight pending against Paul after Fury pulled out of a scheduled December bout due to injury.

The location for the fight is also yet to be defined, so now there will be time to prepare the event, especially if Glen Davis is his rival, since the former basketball player is currently under house arrest.

Another bad rival for Jake Paul?

While Jake Paul has remained undefeated in the ring since he began fighting, his opponents have not been the most competitive, and Glen Davis, who has no prior fighting experience, is not expected to be any different either.

Jake Paul is 5-0 in his lifetime as a boxer, with his most recent bout occurring in December, when he defeated Tyron Woodley by KO. If he wants to make the event a success, he should undoubtedly call in someone with more experience in the ring, even though this may put his undefeated record at risk.
