The injury ghost has spooked the Atlanta Braves again after Ozzie Albies was placed on the 60-day injury list on Monday.

During the game against the Washington Nationals, the Atlanta second baseman had to leave in the fifth inning with a sore left foot after making a swing that ended with a ground ball to third base.

Despite the fact that the Curaçao native was able to walk away on his own, albeit with a limp, Atlanta soon received devastating news: Albies had broken his left foot.

The team announced that this Tuesday he would undergo a new check-up to determine the severity of the injury and its recovery time, which certainly would not be short.

For his part, Braves manager Brian Snitker confessed to Bally Sports South after the game his frustration over what happened with Ozzie Albies.

I hate it for Ozzie, and I hate it for us. It’s unfortunate, but it’s one of those things. He’ll be fine, he’s young and he’ll heal fast. But I just hate it for the kid because he loves to play baseball, and he’s such a big part of our club.

We will see how the Braves can handle the absence of their starting second baseman, the one who contributed so much for the team to put together a streak of 12 consecutive winning games after beating the Washington Nationals 9-5.

After 62 games this season, Albies hit .244, with 15 doubles, eight home runs and 33 RBIs for Atlanta.

Ozzie Albies Reminds Us of Ronald Acuña Jr.

Although we do not yet know how long Ozzie Albies will be out, the seriousness of it reminds us of what happened last season with Ronald Acuña Jr.

The young star missed the second half of the season, the postseason and the start of 2022 after tearing ligaments in his left knee.

While there is still plenty left of the current MLB season, Albies could be back for the final month of action for a Braves team that is sure to be fighting until the last moment to repeat the championship they won last year.
