Week 18 of the MLS allowed us to witness good collective performances, comebacks and goals. We can’t complain because the entertainment was indeed present, which is another evidence that the first half of the season is done, and that the teams are becoming more devoted to meet the objectives they set at the start of the year.

There were some good goals, and we took it upon ourselves to make our selection of the top 5 goals of the Week 18 of the MLS.

Relive the best goals of MLS Week 18

5. Alan Velasco – FC Dallas

FC Dallas drew 1-1 with Inter Miami in a match that was quite competitive. Alan Velasco opened the scoring in the 27th minute. The player took a free kick and although the goalkeeper guessed which way the ball was going, he couldn’t reach it due to the power and placement Velasco gave it, making it one of the best goals of Week 18 in MLS.

4. Jonathan Lewis – Colorado Rapids

Another MLS Week 18 goal was scored by Jonathan Lewis. Despite his team’s 2-3 loss to Austin FC, Lewis created this beauty of a goal. The player received a through pass and sprinted after it, scoring his team’s second goal in the first half when he was in front of the goalkeeper.

3. Benji Kikanovic – San Jose Earthquakes

Bosnian-American Benjamin Kikanovic shined in San Jose Earthquakes’ 2-1 win over Chicago Fire, scoring a brace. However, out of the two goals he scored in MLS Week 18, the second one is worth replaying more than once. The player made space for himself to receive the ball and once he got to the area with it, he feinted to take out an opponent to shoot at goal. The ball ended up in the net.

2. Valentín Castellanos – New York City FC

“Taty” Castellanos also scored two goals in MLS Week 18. In this way, he continues his scoring success and has already reached 50 goals since he has been with New York City FC. He received a pass from Talles Magno and headed towards goal; despite having pressure from an opponent on him, he managed to get the shot off to put NYC FC ahead in the first half.

1. Josef Martínez – Atlanta United

New York City FC and Atlanta United played to a 2-2 draw. Venezuelan Josef Martínez was one of the players responsible for his team’s away point. He made it 1-1 in the 56th minute with a header.

It seemed that he was unable to connect with the ball, so he made an acrobatic movement with his whole body in order to do so. His head hit the ball and sent it into the net.
