Michael Bradley, Toronto FC midfielder, made headlines this weekend for his great performance in the match against Charlotte FC. Thanks to his performance, he was selected as the MLS Player of the Week for the 22nd day of the competition.

The Canadian side thrashed North Carolina by a score of 4-0 in this Week 22 of MLS, and Bradley was instrumental in that result.

The player who performed the best in this match was Michael Bradley: he scored two goals, his first brace of the season. By scoring in this game, he ended a goal drought that had lasted since last April.

Toronto FC opened the scoring early, in the fourth minute, thanks to Jonathan Osorio’s goal, but minutes later, Michael Bradley would increase the lead to 2-0.

In the 10th minute, the American scored his first goal of the match with a header from a corner kick.

His second goal came in first half stoppage time to make the score 4-0. He managed to escape from the rival defenders to send the ball into the net.

Bradley is the captain of Toronto FC and is therefore a regular starter in the scheme employed by his father, Bob Bradley, as the team’s head coach.

He has played 1,970 minutes so far this season, appearing in all 22 matches the Canadian team has played so far. He had not had much success in offensive participation, but now, he has three goals and two assists.

Bradley was selected as the Player of the Week, an award presented by Continental Tire, and is also part of the Team of the Week.

If the U.S. midfielder maintains this performance level and appears consistently on the scoreboard, he could surpass what has been so far his best season, 2015, when he recorded a total of five goals.

Toronto is located in the penultimate position of the Eastern Conference with 22 units, after losing 12 of the 22 games played so far. This victory allowed them to escape from last place, as they ended a five-game winless streak. The next match will be on July 30 against the New England Revolution.
