Checo Pérez and George Russell Duel for the Podium at the French GP
Mexico’s Checo Pérez and Britain’s George Russell were the protagonists of one of the best battles of the French GP. Pérez started from third on the grid, while Russell started from sixth.
After Charles Leclerc‘s retirement, Max Verstappen dominated the race, but behind him came several drivers looking to second him on the podium. Checo Pérez was in third place between Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, but he could not get close to second place, which meant that he had to fight for third place in the final laps with Russell. A few laps before the end of the race, Russell managed to make a maneuver to overtake Pérez and enter the podium.
Lance Stroll’s Effort to Score Points
Aston Martin’s Canadian driver, Lance Stroll, had a good race on Sunday, July 24. He started from position #18 and finished #10, scoring the last available points in the race.
During the race, he had a direct fight with his teammate, German Sebastian Vettel, and was criticized for using extreme force to defend his position. This was the fourth time he has scored in this 2022 season, and in total he has four points, which places him in the #18 position in the Driver’s Championship.
Lewis Hamilton Celebrated 300 Grands Prix With Podium Finish
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamiltonhad problems at the start of the 2022 season, but that seems to be in the past, as he has now been on the podium in the last four races in a row, and in this French GP, he took second place, after having finished in third place on four occasions.
But in addition to having stood on the podium at this track that saw him champion in the 2018 and 2019 editions, he reached 300 Grand Prix contested. Hamilton became the sixth driver in history to participate in 300 Grands Prix.
