LIV Golf’s expansion is underway, and the circuit took advantage of its positive momentum on Wednesday to make some significant announcements.
According to a press release, from 2023 on, LIV Golf will feature 48 players. These players will be divided into 12 team franchises and will compete in a 14-event schedule, which will have a considerable increase in the prizes to be distributed thanks to the financing of Saudi funds.
This announcement, in addition to shaking the foundations of the PGA Tour, a circuit that vetoed players who competed in this rival tournament, speaks of the positive impressions left by LIV Golf in 2022, its debut season in the world of golf.

It is worth noting that LIV Golf plans to complete eight events in its first season with a large number of players who have joined and will join due to the appeal of playing a shorter calendar with a higher cash reward. Among participating players we can find Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Louis Oosthuizen and Sergio Garcia, although it is almost certain that we will not see Tiger Woods participate.
New LIV Golf League to tour the world
LIV Golf, which will become a league in 2023, has announced the expansion of its tournaments and plans to tour the world.
The locations for next year have not been confirmed, but it was announced that the new schedule will take players through North America, South America, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Europe.
Furthermore, the increased number of events will not conflict with the four majors, international team events, or heritage tournaments. The intention is to help players play the tournaments they believe they need to and to encourage the practice of the sport.
