Lewis Hamilton appears to be starting to plan for his future once he retires from Formula 1, and it appears to be tied to one of the most successful sports in the United States.

According to a press release, the seven-time F1 champion joined the Walton-Penner consortium as a minority shareholder, the same consortium that is expected to own the Denver Broncos as of next week.

Hamilton is the third partner to join the consortium led by Walmart heir Rob Walton, his daughter Carrie Walton Penner and her husband Greg Penner, and which purchased the Broncos with a $4.65 billion bid, the highest in the history of world sport.

We are delighted to welcome seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group. He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team and a fierce advocate for global equality, including in his own sport. With over 100 race wins, Lewis is considered the most successful F1 driver of all time. His resilient spirit and standard of excellence will be an asset to the ownership group and the Broncos organization.

It is expected that in general the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell will be quite happy with Hamilton’s arrival. That is so since being African-American goes hand in hand with the policy of inclusion that the league has tried to implement, strongly, in recent campaigns.

Hamilton, who was also happy on his social networks, joins in this way Starbucks Chairman of the Board Mellody Hobson and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, as the three minority partners that will help the consortium run the American football franchise starting this season.

Russell Wilson Hailed the Arrival of Lewis Hamilton

While the Broncos’ new management announced the arrival of Lewis Hamilton, the organization’s star quarterback, Russell Wilson, also welcomed him via his Twitter account.

The QB has a close relationship with Hamilton, to the point that both he and his wife Ciara were guests of honor of the Formula 1 driver during the last Monaco Grand Prix.
