Denver Broncos Lose One of Their Best Receivers for the Entire Season | What Happened?

The Denver Broncos‘ preseason received some tough news on Tuesday after wide receiver Tim Patrick suffered a serious injury during the team’s practice.

While the organization has not confirmed the news yet, 9News reporter Mike Klis said a source confirmed the worst possible scenario for the wide receiver: torn cruciate ligaments in his knee.

Tim Patrick will thus miss action for the entire 2022 campaign, when he was expected to be one of the offensive pillars of the team and quarterback Russell Wilson.

Patrick caught a pass in front of corner Essang Bassey, and as Patrick turned to run to the open field, his leg buckled and he immediately grabbed his knee until he fell to the ground. Immediately after, several teammates, including Wilson, surrounded the player as team trainers examined him.

With four years of experience in the league, Patrick has slowly but surely earned an important place in the receiving corps and was destined to be the number two receiver for the upcoming season after totaling 104 receptions, 1,476 yards and 11 touchdowns over the past two seasons.

For his part, the team’s head coach, Nathaniel Hackett, was quite disgruntled after Tuesday’s practice.

It’s something that breaks your heart. The worst part of this game is when things like this happen. Tim is a very respected guy on this team, in this league.

K.J. Hamler, who suffered the same injury as Patrick last year, along with Montrell Washington and Seth Williams will be the names fighting for the vacancy in a group of wide receivers led by Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.

Bad news also came to the Broncos’ running back corps, as junior Damarea Crockett suffered a torn cruciate ligament Tuesday and will miss the entire season.

The running back, who was heading into his second NFL season, was battling with Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams for the vacant position within this area of the Denver organization’s offense.
