Ben Simmons‘s absence in Game 4 of the NBA Playoffs first round series between the Nets and the Boston Celtics has brought quite a bit of controversy, especially since the young Australian was expected to make his debut for the Brooklyn team in a do-or-die game for them.

However, due to new back problems,Simmons was unavailable for coach Steve Nash and prominent basketball figures, such as the iconic and respected Reggie Miller, have spoken out about the controversies surrounding his absence, accusing Simmons of a lack of competitiveness.

For his part, Shaquille O’Neal, another player who never hesitates to speak out in this type of situation, took advantage of his time as an analyst for the TNT network to blast Ben Simmons and point out that in the basketball world, this type of attitude is known as “punk move” and refers to players who do not have the courage to face complicated situations. Incidentally, O’Neal took the opportunity to offer “help” to the Aussie by confessing that he would bring him some back pain cream himself if he needed it.

Another of sports’ most polarizing experts, Stephen A. Smith, was not hesitant to send a few words to Ben Simmons, highlighting that his excuse of back discomfort is the lowest and most pathetic in the history of professional sports, not just in the United States, but in the history of the world sports.

Kendrick Perkins, a former NBA player who performs assiduous analyses of controversies on social media, had a lot to say and branded Ben Simmons a thief, because the Rookie of the Year from the 2017-2018 season will earn $33 million this season despite not having played a single minute.

But just as there were criticisms, there were also humorous comments and memes on the subject.

Without a doubt, Ben Simmons has put on quite a show in the last few hours, and it was not exactly what Brooklyn Nets fans were expecting. Let’s see how the Aussie gets out of the mess he’s in.
