Betting on the Los Angeles Lakers
- Regular Season Record: 43-39
LeBron James is still the man. The 38-year-old Lakers superstar showed he definitely still has plenty of miles left when he posted 22 points and 20 rebounds along with seven assists and two blocks in 45 minutes in Los Angeles’ 117-111 win in Game 4. Although the Lakers are the road team in Game 5, the pressure is all on the Grizzlies, who can’t afford to make any more mistakes.
The Lakers won Game 4 despite Anthony Davis shooting just 4/13 from the field for 12 points. Davis has always followed up a poor offensive outing with an explosive one, though, so look out for AD to dominate again this Wednesday. It can be remembered that after a 13-point outing in Game 2, Davis pummeled Memphis for 31 points and 17 rebounds. This is a series to lose for the Lakers, who are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games versus a team with a winning record.
Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies
- Regular Season Record: 51-31
The Grizzlies are on the ropes but the important thing for them right now is that they’re just down 3-1 and not out yet in the title hunt. Ja Morant was seemingly bothered in Game 4 by a hand issue, as he finished with just 19 points on 8/24 shooting from the field. Meanwhile, Desmond Bane paced Memphis with 36 points, albeit on an inefficient 13/29 shooting from the floor.
The Grizzlies were sloppy on defense as well in Game 4, committing a total of 26 fouls to just 17 by Los Angeles. A game back home should help Memphis get it together. The last time they were at FedEx Forum, the Grizzlies beat the Lakers in Game 2, 103-93, with Xavier Tillman coming out of nowhere to deliver 22 points and 13 rebounds. They also did not have Morant in that contest, unlike in this coming Wednesday’s contest, so expect the Grizzlies to be a bigger threat this time around. The Grizzlies are also 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games versus the Lakers.
JefeBet Prediction
Ja Morant doesn’t look like he’s at 100%. That sounds like trouble for the Grizzlies, who struggle to keep up with Los Angeles defensively. The Lakers draw a ton of fouls again and capitalize on ample chances at the foul line to get the win.
Prediction: The Lakers win, 112-109.
