Nemkov is an overwhelming favorite to win this bout. Younger by 16 years than Romero, Nemkov is very much still a the peak of his athletic prowess, while the challenger’s best days are long behind him now at this point in time. In his last fight, Nemkov bested Corey Anderson via a majority decision victory last November.
That also extended his undefeated streak to 11 fights dating back to 2016. Four years away from turning 50, Romero is aware that his window is closing. But after back-to-back knockout wins over Alex Polizzi and Melvin Manhoef, Romero also knows that he has still got it. As a big underdog, Romero could end up hunting to land that big punch or kick to turn the tables and upset Nemkov this Friday.
Even if Nemkov dominates for the most part of the fight, Romero’s knockout power is going to be a factor from start to finish.
