Group D of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar looks like an easy group to predict, with an abysmal superiority separating the nations that make up the group, which are France, Denmark, Tunisia and Australia.

Barring any major surprise, it is clear that both reigning world champions France and Denmark are the ones who will advance to the next round, and Tunisia or Australia sneaking into the round of 16 considering the opponents they will face will surely be considered a surprise in every aspect, and while both countries performed well in their confederations, the World Cup is a different matter altogether.

France

Group D Predictions, Odds, and Betting Preview FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
  • FIFA Ranking Position: 4
  • How did they get to the World Cup?: 1st place in Group D [European qualifiers]
  • Previous World Cup participations: 15
  • Odds to win the group: -228
  • Odds to qualify for the round of 16: -1429

France, world champions in both 1998 and at the last World Cup in Russia 2018, will be hoping to become the third team to repeat World Cup titles in all history, with Italy and Brazil having achieved this milestone previously.

The Gallic country has a great soccer power, with a lot of young talent being exported to the rest of Europe year after year. However, there will be some familiar faces from the last World Cup, with Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappé, Olivier Giroud and Benjamin Pavard being joined by young blood such as William Saliba, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Benoit Badiashile to name a few.

However, France’s last international season was not their best, finishing third in their group in the UEFA Nations League, so despite their great talent, they must not underestimate their opponents if they are to avoid a repeat of South Africa 2010.

Denmark

  • FIFA Ranking Position: 10
  • How did they get to the World Cup?: 1st place in Group F [European Qualifiers]
  • Previous World Cup participations: 6
  • Odds to win the group: +250
  • Odds to qualify for the round of 16: -304

Denmark is expected to be one of the surprises at the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, as the team coached by Kasper Hjulmand has taken a leading role in international soccer in recent years thanks to an excellent crop of players who see action in the best leagues in the world.

The Nordic country has men like Kasper Schmeichel, son of legendary Danish goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, as well as other big names like Andreas Christensen, Thomas Delaney, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Mikkel Damsgaard, Yussuf Poulsen, who have developed excellent chemistry when playing as a team.

Denmark already caused a stir at the last European Championship, where they reached the semifinals, and they have what it takes to surpass their best World Cup result to date, having reached the quarterfinals at France 1998.

Tunisia

Group D Predictions, Odds, and Betting Preview FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
  • FIFA Ranking Position: 30
  • How did they get to the World Cup? 1-0 aggregate win over Mali in the third round [AFCON qualifiers]
  • Previous World Cup participations: 6
  • Odds to win the group: +1600
  • Odds to qualify for the round of 16: +350

Tunisia will be making its second appearance at a World Cup after participating in Russia 2018, and its goal will be to qualify for the round of 16 for the first time in history, although this does not seem to be the best group to think that this purpose is entirely realistic.

This African team has a majority of players who play in the domestic league, as well as others who play in lower profile leagues around the world. However, one of the most recognizable names in the squad is Wahbi Khazri, who currently plays for Montpellier and has had a long career in both Ligue 1 and with Tunisia, being the second top scorer in his country.

Tunisia’s last match played before this 2022 FIFA World Cup was against Brazil, and they lost 5-1, which shows that although they are a competitive team in their confederation, they could have setbacks when facing the best teams on the planet.

Australia

  • FIFA Ranking Position: 38
  • How did they get to the World Cup?: Intercontinental playoffs, penalties definition victory over Peru
  • Previous World Cup participations: 6
  • Odds to win the group: +2000
  • Odds to qualify for the round of 16: +400

This will be Australia’s fifth consecutive World Cup appearance, although none of the last three compares to what they did at Germany 2006, a tournament in which they advanced to the round of 16, which remains their best appearance at a World Cup to date.

However, Australia look a far cry from what was once one of the most fearsome teams in the AFC, the confederation in which they play after their move from the OFC in 2006, and not for nothing did they have to play in the intercontinental playoff to reach this competition. Despite this, Australia comes into this World Cup on a five-match unbeaten streak. However, this good run was against the likes of New Zealand, Jordan, United Arab Emirates and Peru.

Some of the players we can recognize in the national team are Aaron Mooy, who have played with several teams in England, as well as Mathew Ryan, former goalkeeper of teams like Valencia, Brighton and Arsenal, who will hope to have a worthy participation with Australia in this World Cup, although it seems difficult for them to achieve anything more than a third place in their group.

JefeBet Prediction

Predicting this Group D of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar is not very difficult, with the biggest complication being the order in which the teams will be placed once the three matchdays of the group stage are played.

Today, at JefeBet believe that, although France will qualify to the next round, they will not do so as group leaders. The French team had a disappointing participation in the last Nations League and showed that they are far from the level they had in Russia 2018, finishing third in a group that included precisely their main rival in this first phase of the tournament, Denmark, who beat them twice in that competition.

Group winner: Denmark

Runner-up: France
