The 2022 MLB trade deadline is August 2, and changes and rumors are still circulating throughout Major League Baseball.
This Friday, July 29, was no exception to this rule, so here we leave you with the most outstanding rumors before the arrival of the weekend.
2022 MLB Trade Deadline Rumors – 07/29
Mariners acquire Luis Castillo
In one of the most important moves of the 2022 MLB trade deadline, the Seattle Mariners acquired Cincinnati Reds pitcher Luis Castillo from the Dominican Republic.
The starter was one of the most sought-after pieces even by teams like the Yankees and Dodgers, but according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the American West organization finally secured the services of the best pitcher available on the market.
FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal added that Cincinnati received three of the Mariners’ top prospects – Noelvi Marte, Levi Stoudt and Edwin Arroyo – as well as Andrew Moore in return.
This season, in addition to being the Reds’ representative in the All-Star Game, the right-hander has a 4-4 record and 90 strikeouts in 85 innings played.
Boston Gives Bogaerts Its Word
Amid speculation of a roster cleanup, Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts revealed Thursday night that he will not be traded from the organization, which would remove one of the MLB Trade Deadline’s biggest names from trade speculation.
Bogaerts went on to say that he wasn’t sure if disclosing the information supplied to him by a team manager would land him in hot water, but the most important thing to him is excellent communication between all parties concerned.
The Aruba native is in the midst of a six-season, $120 million contract he signed in 2020 with the Red Sox.
Ramon Laureano in the Brewers’ sights
The Milwaukee Brewers are in search of a center fielder and Raul Laureano’s name is one of the closest to the organization just days before the MLB Trade Deadline closes, according to a report by Jon Heyman of The New York Post.
While his offensive numbers aren’t the best, due partly to playing in one of baseball’s worst ballparks for hitters, the Athletics’, his performance at the plate has improved season after season, becoming a strong compliment to his excellent defense.
Milwaukee could add him in the next few days to help Tyrone Taylor and Jonathan Davis in the center field.
Yankees could trade Miguel Andujar
In the coming days, Dominican Miguel Andujar could finally leave the New York Yankees, after the 27-year-old infielder requested a trade during June.
The Bronx team could use Andujar as a bargaining chip in one of the next moves they may make before August 2. With six years of experience in the Majors, he will surely capture the attention of several teams.
