August marks the end of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season, and the 2022 Wyndham Championsip is the last golf tournament on the circuit before we head into the FedEx Cup playoff events.
The Wyndham Championship, a tournament that began in 1938 but was not known by its current name until 2007, will begin on August 3, at Sedgefield Country Club, a golf course located in Greensboro, North Carolina, which has been hosting the event since 2008.

Like many other tournaments in this 2021-22 season on the PGA Tour, the Wyndham Championship has undergone changes in the prize purse that will be distributed this year compared to 2021. So, it is important to review how things will look for this edition of the tournament.
This Wyndham Championship 2022 saw an increase of $900,000 in its prize purse to a total of $7.3 million, representing a significant increase of 14.06% over last year’s $6.4 million. It is worth mentioning that since the tournament began to be called by its current name, there has never been such a substantial increase in the prize pool from one edition to the other, and the biggest increase was of $200,000.
This is also the first increase in the prize purse since the 2020 edition,when the winners took home a total of $1.152 millions in both 2020 and 2021, with Jim Herman and Kevin Kisner being the lucky winners (in 2020 and 2021, respectively). This year the winner will take home $1,314,000 million, which is about $162,000 more, for an increase also of 14.06% for the winner.
