Betting on the Cleveland Browns (+2.5)
Preseason record: 1-1
The Browns suffered their first loss of the preseason, as they got taken down by the Washington Commanders in Week 1 at home, 17-15. Despite the loss, the Browns must like what they saw from their quarterbacks, Dorian Thompson-Robinson in particular.
The rookie QB had flashes of brilliance for the second week in a row for Cleveland, as he passed for 102 yards and a touchdown on 9/10 completions against the Commanders. Deshaun Watsons saw limited action and went 3/3 for only 12 passing yards, but might see more action against the Eagles. The Browns could find success in Week 2 with their ground attack, as the Eagles surrendered 133 rushing yards in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Over is 4-1 in the Browns’ last five preseason games.
Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5)
Preseason record: 0-1
Philadelphia stumbled right out of the gate in the preseason, as the reigning NFC champions suffered a 20-19 road loss to the Ravens last Saturday. Jalen Hurts did not see action thought in that game and this could be the case again versus the Browns. If so, the Eagles will heavily lean on the pair of Tanner McKee and Marcus Mariota.
McKee went 10/20 with 148 passing yards in Week 1, while Mariota completed 7 of 11 for 158 yards. Philly did not score a passing touchdown against Baltimore, but there’s hope in Week 2 versus the Browns, who got lit up by Washington for 178 receiving yards and a touchdown. Conversely, the Eagles’ pass defense offers some promise after rookie cornerback Eli Ricks had an interception in Week 1.
The Eagles are 2-2-1 against the spread in their last five preseason games.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Cleveland Browns vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Browns’ defense will shine against the Eagles, who allowed four sacks for a loss of 36 yards in the Baltimore game. Also, Thompson-Robinson continues to impress Cleveland with another excellent outing.
Prediction:
The Browns win, 21-14.
