Bryce Harper is taking a few mandatory days off due to the platelet—rich plasma injection he received in his right elbow on Sunday. This does not, however, prevent him from trying to have a good time with Philadelphia Phillies’ fans.
An example of this is the interaction he had this Thursday with a young fan of the team, Keith Maguire, whom he pleasantly surprised by offering him an exchange of caps prior to his team’s match against the San Diego Padres.
As Harper made his way to the clubhouse, the outfielder spotted a Phillies cap Maguire was wearing in the distance. This piqued his interest, so he offered a trade to the young fan, who has been attending the stadium since he was eight years old.
“Just really liked the hat, so I signed mine and asked if he wanted to trade. He was really cool about it and made it happen. Always fun interacting with the fans here at home.”

Maguire was initially unaware of the scenario until one of the friends with whom he attended the match informed him of Bryce Harper’s intentions.
Once the connection was made, Harper received the cap and tossed his to Maguire, who did not expect anything in return, since only the idea that a team member was interested in his cap, which he had purchased just before the game, seemed incredible to him.
But the amazing moment did not finish there. When Maguire received the cap from Harper, he saw that it was autographed by the two-time National League MVP: something that filled him with much more joy.

The moment, of course, did not go unnoticed and social networks quickly picked up on the trade, which turned Maguire and his friends into rockstars for a few hours, as he began to receive hundreds of messages from family and friends who had seen him on television.
Maguire also confessed that the hat is a bit too big for him, but that won’t stop him from showing it off for a while before putting it away in a very special place.
“It’s enough for me to just rest it on my head, to let people know that it happened. But that will be going on the shelf, and it will be sitting there for good. I wouldn’t even wear it, anyway. It’s a pretty cool piece of memorabilia right there. It was a great day.”
