On Thursday, September 8, two of the top contenders to win the Super Bowl, the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams, will kick off the 2022 NFL season in the first game of Week 1 of the regular round.
After being eliminated last season in a historic battle with the Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Game, the Bills are positioned in Las Vegas as the main favorite to dethrone the Rams, a team that kept practically all of its elements from the previous championship and that will seek, at home, to demonstrate that it has the arguments for the championship.
Below, JefeBet brings you the ideal preview ahead of the Bills vs Rams Week 1 matchup in NFL 2022.
Predictions and Betting Preview for the Buffalo Bills vs Los Angeles Rams NFL Week 1 Game on September 8 2022
- Where: SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, California.
- When: Thursday, September 8, 2022, 8:20 PM ET.
Betting on the Buffalo Bills
- Regular Season Record: 0-0
- Spread: -2.5
- Moneyline: (-135)
- Over/Under: 53
After three consecutive unlucky postseasons, the Bills enter the 2022 season on a mission to win their first Super Bowl with the help of star quarterback Josh Allen, who will have a very talented team at his disposal, including receiver Steffon Diggs.
That is why this Thursday they will face their first acid test when they face the mighty Rams, reigning NFL champions with one of the best defensive lines in the circuit. Early on, Allen has to prove he is ready to take Buffalo to the Super Bowl after winning the AFC East Division the past two seasons.
On the defensive side, the Bills are not far behind. During the preseason, they signed veteran linebacker Von Miller, who helped the Rams win the title last season. As for the secondary, head coach Sean McDermott has one of the best in the league and received great news over the weekend as deep man Jordan Poyer, a key man on this line, is on track to play in the game after recovering from an injury.
Betting on the Los Angeles Rams
- Regular Season Record: 0-0
- Spread: +2.5
- Moneyline: (+115)
- Over/Under: 53
The Rams start the season where they ended it: playing at home, in front of their fans. Los Angeles were crowned champion against the Bengals in their stadium, and this Thursday will begin the defense of their title in a place where last year they had a 7-3 record, including the postseason.
Once again, Matthew Stafford will be in charge of the offense, despite raising doubts this first week due to right elbow discomfort. The quarterback led the Rams to the championship in his debut campaign with the organization and will have Cooper Kupp, 2021 Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP, as his go-to receiver.
As for the defense, there is not much to say. Although they lost Von Miller, the Rams signed linebacker Bobby Wagner to join Aaron Donald on the mission of slowing down opponents. Moving on to the secondary, Los Angeles also has its own and Jalen Ramsey, considered by many to be the best cornerback in the game today, is recovered from physical discomfort and will see action on Thursday.
JefeBet Prediction
It is difficult to make a prediction of this commitment. The two teams could meet again at the end of the season in the Super Bowl, as both have plenty of talent on both sides of the grid.
The Rams start at home, in front of a fan base that will be more than pleased to welcome their champions, and without many absences compared to last year. But, the Bills come in looking like the world is their oyster: Josh Allen is a step ahead of Matthew Stafford and Buffalo’s secondary could put the home offense in trouble.
In recent seasons, Buffalo has not started their schedule well, but if they want to do something different this year, a win in this game is transcendental. I’m going with one of the surprises of the day: the Bills moneyline.
